The sea recedes over the shining shore
The tide brings in memories and seaweed
My cold feet glide along the sandy mud
Sun glistening, a distant moon rising
A chill stirring, the wind tickles my neck
The North Wind hails from great Iqaluit
The Autumn sun grazes across the Lake
Fathom the Five, the mighty gods of Ice
Hear the ancestors howl in the windstorms
A cry for their children and their children
A home for the Chippewas of Saugeen
As the moon and sun dance around the earth
The ice engulfs all land and sea and me
Deep breath in, hold, exhale a cloud of warmth
A watercolour sky blooms in violet
The gentle stars align above my head
